As skills progressed, all pupils
were able to journey through blue
and red slopes, mastering the
lifts , twists and turns of the runs.

There was of course some shop-
ping to do, and the picture post-
card resort of Folgaria allowed for

souvenirs to be purchased and
tuck supplies to be replenished.
An international youth ski compe-
tition was held in the resort, and
the Opening Ceremony began
with a procession of all the teams

led by locals in national costume
accompanied by the local band. It
was a terrific spectacle to see
teams from as far away as Austral-
ia all parade through the narrow

streets under their national flag.
