This year, students in ASC 2 have been fully immersed in the world of Agriculture, gaining both
theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Their learning has taken them to the ECOS
Centre, where they explored conservation techniques and have been involved in crop
production. A highlight has been growing, harvesting, and tasting their own potatoes, giving
them a true seed-to-plate experience. Students also had the opportunity to assist with
cultivation machinery on a tractor, deepening their understanding of modern farming methods.
In the classroom, students continue to develop essential literacy skills through GCSE English,
where they engage with a variety of texts and build confidence in reading, writing, and
communication.
As part of their Vocational Skills course, pupils have been encouraged to think about life beyond
school. They’ve explored potential career paths and further education, identified their own skills
and qualities, and learned how to research future career opportunities. Practical sessions have
included designing a CV and covering letter, equipping them with tools for future success.
