This year in the Learning Support Centre (LSC) has been a powerful reflection of student growth,
compassion, and achievement. Under the themes of Mindfulness, Resilience, and Mental
Health, students have embraced a wide range of enriching experiences that have helped them
develop both personally and academically.
A key highlight has been their collaboration with MindWise Charity and The People’s Park,
where students planted trees in the Sensory Garden—a peaceful space designed to promote
well-being and connection with nature. This project not only supported the local environment
but also gave students a chance to contribute meaningfully to their community.
In the spirit of giving back, students also visited a local care home during the Christmas season,
where they took part in festive activities with residents. From singing carols to crafting
decorations, the visit brought joy to everyone involved and helped build intergenerational
connections that were both heartwarming and memorable.
Academically, students have been working diligently towards their goals. Many are completing
their GCSEs through the King’s Trust programme, while others are thriving in OCN Vocational
Studies, gaining hands-on experience and practical skills that will serve them well in the future.
The images from this term capture the essence of life in the LSC—students smiling as they plant
trees, engaging in mindfulness sessions and celebrating academic milestones. Each moment is a
testament to their resilience, kindness, and commitment to making a difference.
