by pursuing excellence in the quality of teaching and learning supported by

including pursuit of the ‘New Build’.
78% of students achieved three successful grades. We extend congratulations also to those who had
achievements commensurate with their gifts, including 66% of students who studied two A Level
grades and achieved Pass, Merit or Distinction grades in preparation for their chosen careers. In
particular, it has been impressive to observe many students overcoming challenges and, through
their determination, achieving standards beyond their hopes as well as developing significant
leadership and interpersonal skills in the process.
The following subject areas achieved 100% A – C grades: Biology, CTEC Business, Engineering and
Performing Arts. Other highly successful subjects included English Literature, Single Award Child
Care, History, Health and Social Care, Life & Health Science, Single Award Information Technology,
Travel & Tourism and Sports - all in the A* – C range.
Many of these pupils have entered tertiary education: Studying Law at the University of Ulster,
Sports Studies, Marketing, Event Management, Early Childhood Studies at Stranmillis University,
Health & Social Care, Quantity Surveying, History, Consumer Management, Cinematic Arts, Business,
Drama and Psychology, Criminology, Occupational Therapy at Magee, Bio-Medical Engineering, Food
Innovation and Nutrition at CAFRE and Computing. Others have entered high level Apprenticeships…
earning and learning and others taking a year out. Congratulations to all!
As I begin to draw this report to a close I want to finish by saying that both the Board of Governors,
and I, along with my Strategic Leadership Team and the wider staff will continue to focus our efforts
for the future of Dunclug College… through meeting the curricular needs of our enrolment, by
pursuing excellence in the quality of teaching and learning supported by strong pastoral care, extra-
curricular activities and community involvement including pursuit of the ‘New Build’.
I’m glad to report that a new ICT Team, Isherwood and Ellis, has been appointed. To support the
growth in enrolment current plans are being upgraded. The new Dunclug College will remain a key
focal point within this shared site and aims to enhance provisions alongside the existing Dunclug
Primary and Nursery Schools. This will build on the embedded school ethos of sharing and preparing
for life.
Both, I and the Governors, will continue to ensure the new build will be designed from the inside out,
with pupils as the beating heart to optimise learning and prepare for life!
