Learning a new language is the start of a new adventure and new experiences.
In September Year 8 pupils were not only introduced to a new language but they also had the
opportunity to learn about Spain – its culture and traditions. To celebrate European Day of
Languages we completed a quiz and Year 8 took part in a poster competition entitled ‘Why learn
languages?’. Pupils had to think about the benefits of learning a language and how beneficial it
can be in the world of work. The results of the competition were:

Pupils in the LSC and ASC celebrated European day of Languages by playing Spanish vocabulary
building games. They also had the opportunity to sample typical Spanish foods.

All pupils participated in house competitions associated with the topics they were studying in
class. There was a great effort made and pupils made use of new vocabulary and grammar
points in their work. The winners were:
