In Year 8 pupils begin their language journey, not only learning a new language but also learning
about the traditions and culture within Spain.
To celebrate European Day of Languages the school foyer was filled with greetings in the home
language of some of your pupils. Each lesson started with the opportunity to learn a phrase in a
different language and we completed quizzes and games. Year 8 took part in a poster
competition entitled ‘Why learn languages?’. Pupils came up with some great ideas about the
value of languages.
