A Fond Farewell: Dunclug College Celebrates the Retirement of Mr. Douglas
After three decades of dedicated service, Dunclug College is saying a fond farewell to one
of its longest-serving and most respected teachers, Mr. Douglas, who made the decision
to retire in August.
Mr. Douglas first joined the staff in 1995 as a Teacher of Physical Education. Over the
years, his commitment to the school community saw him take on a variety of important
roles, including GNVQ Co-ordinator and Assistant Internal Exams Officer. In 2003, he was
promoted to Head of PE, a position he performed with an unwavering commitment and a
deep-seated care for the students and community of Dunclug College.
The Board of Governors has formally placed on record their immense gratitude for Mr.
Douglas's 30 years of service, wishing him every success as he prepares to embrace early
retirement and embark on his next chapter.
In a tribute to Mr. Douglas, the Principal expressed the feelings of the entire school
community. "On behalf of everyone at Dunclug College, we extend our warmest wishes
on your retirement. Your commitment to the young people and community of Dunclug
has been truly remarkable, shaping countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on our
college. Your hard work, passion, and unwavering support have been an inspiration to us
all."
As he hangs up his whistle, we hope his retirement is filled with joy, relaxation, ‘drop-of-
the-hat’ holidays, and impromptu runs. As a token of our appreciation and to honour this
special occasion, Mr. Douglas was presented with a commemorative Dunclug Cap.
Our very best wishes go to both Mr. Douglas and his wife, Gillian, as they begin this
exciting new journey together. Thank you, Mr. Douglas, for everything. You will be greatly
missed.
