Netball
Year 8—Dunclug College Year 8 Netball Team Crowned Ballymena League Champions. The Year
8 team has had a remarkable season, finishing as champions of the Ballymena League. Their
victory is a result of months of hard work, consistent effort, and outstanding dedication from
every member of the team. Throughout the year, the team showed a strong commitment to
training, with high attendance at every session. Their determination to improve and enthusiasm
for the sport created a positive and focused atmosphere that translated into excellent court
performances. Winning the Ballymena League is a fantastic achievement for this young team
and highlights the strength of netball at Dunclug College. Well done to all the players for their
dedication and success this season. Several players stood out for their exceptional
performances across the season. Eva Woodburn displayed tireless energy and determination in
centre court, linking defence and attack with great effectiveness. Her ability to control the flow
of the game and support her teammates was vital to the team's success. In the goal circle, Holly
McCullough delivered consistent and stable performances. Her calm presence and accurate
shooting provided the team with a reliable scoring option in every match, helping to keep the
pressure on opponents throughout the league. DEfeensively, Amelia Williams was a key figure,
using her ability to read the game and intercept passes to disrupt opposing attacks. Her sharp
reactions and strong defending ensured that Dunclug remained solid at the back.

Year 9—After a successful Y8, the Y9s began the year well with a good win over Cullybackey
College. The withdrawal of several schools from the League led to some disappointment when
matches were forfeited; however, the team played on regardless and finished as Runners-up in
the Ballymena League. Anna Millar and Emma Erwin made for a super partnership in the circle,
ably supported by Erinn Ward. Holly Burbage demonstrated effective leadership working
seamlessly with Grace Robinson in defence to bring the ball through to the circle.

Year 10—Sarah Hulpea transferred from another school and made a massive impact on her
arrival as a strong defender and someone with an intuitive game brain. Again, the withdrawal of
school made matches limited; however, the girls were absolutely thrilled to secure a win this
year after suffering losses all last season, showing their determination, resilience, and dedication
                    to improving.

                    Hockey

This year, hockey for Year 8 and Year 9 was held at the Ballymena Showgrounds. Unfortunately,
due to a lack of facilities, limited transport, and the absence of a local Ballymena League, both
teams had limited opportunities to compete. As a result, they played only a few friendly
                    matches against Cullybackey College.
Year 8 Highlights—In their first match, Year 8 played exceptionally well and secured a 1-0
victory over Cullybackey. During their second encounter, the team showed great resilience.
After going 1-0 down, they fought back and equalised towards the end, demonstrating strong
                    teamwork and determination.
Year 9 Highlights—Year 9 also put in a solid performance. The match was evenly contested for
most of the game. However, Cullybackey began to apply more pressure in the latter stages and
managed to score the winning goal. Despite the loss, it was a good team performance, with
players showing effort, skill, and sportsmanship throughout.
The school is proud of both teams for their commitment and spirit.

Congratulations to Anna McNeilly Y8 pictured in her Randalstown H.C. kit on her selection for
the Ulster Hockey NW Development Programme. Anna is a talented player, and we watch her
                    progress closely!
