The year 10 cohort for the academic year 2023/2024 was an eventful year filled with many
successful and inspiring stories.
Bible Expedition – ‘Journey2Where’
In September, the year 10s took part in the ‘Bible Expedition’ in which pupils got to speak to several
people and be taken on a journey of stories from the Bible from the very beginning in Genesis all the
way through to Revelation. They heard captivating stories of different topics such as the creation of
the world, Daniel and the Lions’ Den and the death and Resurrection of Christ.
The year 10 pupils were also treated to a very engaging course held by the people from ‘Love For
Life’. During this workshop pupils received guidance on the importance of being responsible and
being mature in their relationships. ‘Love For Life’ is there to inspire young people to value strong
and healthy relationships. This proved to be a valuable workshop for all pupils as they were
enthralled with real life stories of people who have made both the right and wrong choices in their
relationships. This taught the year 10s what to expect and how to act in their future relationships
with other.
Year 10, as they did in year 9, flourished in the Performing Arts of Dunclug College. Many pupils in
year showcased their talents in acting, singing and playing instruments through various school
events throughout the year. Lacey Aiken took the lead of ‘Truly Scrumptious’ in the school’s
production of ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.’ Scott Turtle performed to a very high level as Lord
Scrumptious and Kyle Houston-Brennan captured the attention of the audience with his portrayal as
Jeremy Potts. Harry Robb showed his talent in a more technological based manner with his role in
sound, in the school show, the Carol Service and the Spring Concert.
Lacey also lifted spirits with her rendition of Taylor Swift’s ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ during the carol
service while Kyle Houston Brennan led the choir solo during their version of Ed Sheeran and Elton
John’s ‘Merry Christmas, Everyone’. Scott Turtle showcased his other talent by playing the accordion
for the intro to ‘Fairytale of New York’. There were other fantastic performances during the Spring
concert by aforementioned pupils. This time, it also included Maggie Espie taking the lead solo
during the full choir piece.
There were other successes in the world of sport for year with Emily Millar winning the junior school
champion during sports day. Other pupils, including Cathryn McCue stepped up and took home
several medals also.
All-in-all, a successful year for year 10 with more to come in year 11.
