Year 10 and 11 Football Teams - The Year 10 and Year 11 football teams had opportunities to display
their talents in separate 7-aside ‘blitz’ competitions in the Mid-Antrim area. These events provided
thrilling action and a chance for our young athletes to represent the school. The Year 10 team
participated with enthusiasm and determination, demonstrating some impressive teamwork. The 7-
aside format allowed players to shine, particularly benefiting fringe players who demonstrated their
skills and gained increased confidence as the tournament progressed. It also allowed for several
players in Year 9, including Robbie Montgomery, Adam Nelson and Mason McDowell, to play at a
higher age-group level. The Year 11 team also managed to field two squads at the time of their ‘blitz’,
enabling more players to gain playing experience, and providing an ideal platform for players to
improve skills and team dynamics. In the respective Mid-Antrim Cup competitions for these two
teams, the Year 10 team were beaten by the eventual winners, Cambridge House Grammar school,
but our captain, Curtis Holmes, had the distinction of scoring a contender for ‘goal of the season’,
with a superb strike from at least 40-yards! In the Year 11 competition, despite a promising start
made in the match, the team were beaten comprehensively by a strong and physical side from
Ballymena Academy, who were eventual runners-up in the final itself.

Alex gets a call-up -We were incredibly proud when it was announced that Alex Houston had been
selected to represent County Antrim in the Premier Section of this year’s SuperCupNI tournament!
Alex is part of the 18-man squad heading into this summer’s prestigious international competition
and this achievement reflects his hard work and total dedication. This competition has a history of
producing talented players, and we believe Alex has similar potential to inspire young footballers in
our community. We look forward to watching him play and wish him all the best of luck for his
                    continued progress within the sport.

New kit is a ‘galloping’ success! We were thrilled to receive a new sponsored junior football kit from
Mr Philip McBurney, associated with Caherty stables and horse racing. Thanks to his generous
support, our school teams now have a fantastic looking kit and would certainly be leading locally in
terms of the ‘fashion stakes’. Thank you, Philip, for investing in our future and championing school
                    sports.
