House events got off to a sunny start with some Year 8 hockey. In boys’ football, Harberton were
winners and in the dodgeball, Rathmore came out in the lead with Ballyloughan a close second.
Pinegrove was victorious on the day and got some valuable points on the board. The Spanish and
French poster and postcard competitions were heavily dominated by Ballyloughan, winning all
paces in Years 8 and 9 and a significant number in years 11 and 12 also.
In November we continued to link our anti-bullying message ‘’The Same, but Different’’ with our
House Colours Day, whilst raising money for Children in Need. This is always a great day when the
school community comes together wearing some item of clothing related to House colours. As
you can see from the photos, some people are very committed to getting into the spirit of things!!
In the Staff Bake Off, Mr McNeilly representing Rathmore took first place, although we are not
sure if there is any truth in the rumour that it was actually his wife who was the star baker! In
sixth form, Emily Pearson (Rathmore) and Naomi Turtle ( Harberton) won the Christmas Cupcake
Challenge with very cute entries!
Our photography competition was an annual favourite. Reece Asquith Y11 and Oliver Gormley
Y10 ( both Pinegrove) submitted the winning entries, with Megan Bremer Y12 from Rathmore and
Luca Laverty Y11 from Pinegrove winning third place. All entries won house points, including
those for the staff competition where Mr Newell took first place for Pinegrove.
On Sports Day, Ballyloughan claimed most of the wins with Harberton very close behind,
Rathmore in third place and Pinegrove fourth.
When all totals including merits and attendance were added together at the end of June, the
results were as follows
Ballyloughan 1st
Harberton 2nd
Pinegrove 3rd
Rathmore 4th
